Xbox360 skal bandlyses

I al fald i Tyskland. Sådan lyder budskabet fra en tysk domstol i Mannheim, som i onsdags beordrede Microsoft til at fjerne sine produkter, herunder Xbox360 og Windows 7, fra de tyske butikshylder. Microsoft giver imidlertid ikke op og har naturligvis appelleret sagen, hvor de i mellemtiden fortsat kan sælge sine produkter uhindret. Men hvad i alverden?

Det viser sig, at Tyskland lægger hus til endnu en verdenskonflikt, men denne gang bruger man ikke rifler og skyttegrave: Dette er såmænd patentkrigen, og her bruger man pen og papir. Alle sagsøger hinanden for tiden over patenter, og Motorola har altså sagsøgt Microsoft (og fået medhold) for brug af specifikt software i forbindelse med videoer, som Microsoft bruger i blandt andet Xbox360. Sagen kører nu videre, og det bliver interessant at se, om Microsoft må vinke farvel til det tyske marked.

Xbox360 will be banned. At least in Germany. That is the message from a German court which ordered Microsoft to remove its popular console and Windows 7-products from the country's store shelves. Microsoft, naturally, appealed the case and while the case is still active they'll be able to continue selling products. But what the?

It seems that Germany is host to yet another global conflict but this time the fight will not be fought with rifles in trenches: it's a war of patents and is fought with pen and paper. It seems that everyone is suing everyone else regarding patents, and this time it's Motorola who is suing Microsoft for using a specific software to compress videos in their Xbox360 and some Windows 7 products. The case is still ongoing thanks to the appeal but it'll be very interesting to see if the Xbox360 actually will be banned in Germany.

Mød Skyrims' første DLC: Dawnguard

Så faldt nyheden omsider! The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim får omsider sin første udvidelse under navnet Dawnguard, og vi er flere, som klapper i vores små hænder lige nu! Udvidelsen kommer til sommer og lander på Xbox360 før de andre platforme, og vi kan forvente mere nyt omkring udvidelsen til E3.

Todd Howard og resten af holdet hos Bethesda Softworks har imidlertid lovet, at udvidelserne til Skyrim ikke kommer til at minde om Horse Armor-udvidelsen til Oblivion, og allerede her scorer de heftige point i min bog. Ligeledes har de sagt, at spillet får færre og større udvidelser fremover, og igen scorer studiet bonuspoint i min bog. Hvad vil Dawnguard indeholde? Er det Snow Elf Prince? Hvem ved?! Jeg ved bare, at jeg er spændt på at se det!

The day has finally come! The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will soon be receiving its very first DLC named Dawnguard, and we are many who finds joy in all of this! The expansion will hit the Xbox360 first this summer before landing on the other platforms, and we can expect more juicy news at this year's E3.

Todd Howard and the rest of the crew at Bethesda Softworks promised us that the expansions to Skyrim would not be in the form of the Horse Armor DLC for Oblivion and for saying this Bethesda Softworks gets some serious points. Likewise they also stated that the game would receive fewer and more substantial expansions, and this just counts as bonus points! What Dawnguard will contain is still unknown. Is it the Snow Elf Prince? Who knows? But I am very excited about it!

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn

Dette er navnet på den nye live-action serie, som Microsoft er ved at producere baseret på den største franchise på både den oprindelige samt nye Xbox: Halo. Som mange af jer allerede er bekendt med, så udkommer Halo 4 inden længe, og at udviklingen af spillet er flyttet fra Bungie til 343 Industries. Nyheden om en ny Halo-trilogi blev imidlertid modtaget med blandede følelser: Nogle spillere kan ikke fordrage tanken, og andre kan ikke få nok af universet. Men det holder ikke Microsoft fra at fejre udgivelsen på en særlig måde!

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn introducerer en ny karakter i historien, som møder Master Chief tidligt i konflikten med the Covenant. Denne person bliver inspireret af den modige Spartan til at lade sig hverve i UNSC og kommer til at tjene på UNSC Infinity. Der vil i alt komme 5 afsnit, som hver især vil være af 15 minutters varighed, og de vil blive vist via Halo Waypoint samt på machinima.com.

This will be the name for the new live-action series based on the highly successful Halo franchise. As many of you know Halo 4 will find its way to the store shelves in November, and that the development has moved from Bungie to 343 Industries. The news of a new Halo trilogy did not exactly please everyone, since we've already finished the fight in Halo 3, but others welcome it with open arms. Me? I'm not so sure. I love the Universe and all but we did finish the fight but I'm curious to see the new storyline and besides, Master Chief is very awesome so playing as him again does not hurt my feelings. Regardless of this raging debate among gamers Microsoft plans to celebrate the release of the new game on a high note.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn introduces a new character who will get to meet Master Chief sometime early during the conflict with the Covenant, and that the brave Spartan will inspire him to join the ranks of UNSC, where he will be serving on the UNSC Infinity. The story will be told through 5 15-minute episodes and will be aired on Halo Waypoint and at machinima.com.
