Project Shield

Sådan lyder kodenavnet for Nvidias seneste projekt, som i bund og grund er en håndholdt spillemaskine, hvor spillere altså kan spille computerspil importeret fra både Google Play samt Steam. Android-baserede spillemaskiner er intet nyt under solen, men Nvidia har imidlertid et es i ærmet: Tegra 4-processoren.

Denne processor siges at være hele seks gange hurtigere end Tegra 3, og Nvidia siger ydermere, at den kan levere op til 14 timers HD-gameplay. Med den slags saft i processoren har Shield allerede her en klar fordel, men enheden er endnu ikke helt færdig med at vise sine styrker. Enheden har et multi-touch display med mulighed for at vise i 720p, og den indeholder ligeledes Grid Cloud Gaming Platform, som i følge Nvidia er på mange måder mere overlegen end tidligere forsøg på cloud-baseret gaming. Spørgsmålet er nu: Hvornår bliver bæstet udgivet, og vil det blive en succes? Det vil tiden vise!

That's the name for the latest Nvidia project, which basically is a handheld console where you'll be able to play games imported from both Google Play and Steam. Consoles running on Android is definitely nothing new but Nvidia does have something up their sleeve: the Tegra 4 processor.

This processor is said to be six times more powerful than the Tegra 3 processor, and Nvidia furthermore claims that it will be able to deliver 14 hours of HD gameplay on full battery. With that kind of juice in the processor Shield already has an advantage but the unit isn't quite done showing off its powers. Shield has a multi touch display capable of running games in pure 720p and it also contains the Grid Cloud Gaming Platform, which Nvidia says is superior than previous attempts at cloud based gaming. The question now is: when will this beast be unleashed, and will it be successful? Only time will tell!

E3 Countdown

Larry Hryb, eller bedre kendt som Major Nelson, har netop igangsat en nedtælling til dette års E3. Major Nelson, for at introducere ham, har været en del af Xbox-holdet siden 2003, hvorfor en nedtælling på hans side er en ganske finurlig ting. E3, som I alle ved, er et af årets største begivenheder inden for gaming og er den oplagte mulighed for de store producenter, herunder Sony, Microsoft og Nintendo, at præsentere nyt software og ikke mindst hardware. Rygterne om en ny konsol fra både Sony og Microsoft har længe hærget på interwebbet, men med denne nedtælling kan det da betyde, at Microsoft er rede til at løfte sløret for Xbox720?

Tiden vil vise, hvad Microsoft har i ærmet til det års E3. Det kan være en ny konsol, Kinect Sports 3 eller noget helt andet. Personligt håber jeg at se mere til både Xbox720 og Fable 4, for Lionhead skylder et godt spil efter de to seneste, henholdsvis Fable 3 og ikke mindst Fable: The Journey, men indtil videre er der altså blot spekulationer og intet konkret. Larry Hryb, or better known as Major Nelson, put up a countdown on his website counting down to this year's E3. Major Nelson, to those of you who doesn't know him, has been a member of the Xbox team since 2003 which is why a countdown on his website is something to behold. E3, as you all know, is one of gaming's biggest events giving the major companies the opportunity to showcase their newest software and especially hardware. The rumors about a new console from both Sony and Microsoft has long plagued the interwebs but could this countdown mean that Microsoft is finally ready to reveal the Xbox720?

Only time will tell what Microsoft has planned for E3. It could be a console, Kinect Sports 3 or something completely different. Personally I hope to hear more about Fable 4 as well as Xbox720 because Lionhead owes us a good game after both Fable 3 and Fable: The Journey. But that's another topic. So far there is only speculations about the countdown and what it could mean, but until E3 you can follow the countdown here!

Far Cry 3 slår Black Ops 2

Activision's enorme gigant, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, har længe siddet på førstepladsen over de mest solgte spil, men nu lader det til, at Far Cry 3 har slået konkurrenten i Storbritannien. Chart-track rapporterer således, at Ubisofts populære spil nu ligger i toppen af den britiske liste skarpt efterfulgt af Fifa 13. På samme liste ser Call of Duty sig altså nu på en 3. plads. Efter 6 uger som nr. 1 kan man kun sige, at Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 bestemt ikke har klaret sig ilde, og at det nu muligvis også er på tide at få nye kræfter på toppen. The beast of Activision, Call of Duty: Black ops 2, has been at the very top of the sales charts for a rather long time but now it seems that Far Cry 3 has bested it in the UK. Chart-track reports that the popular game from Ubisoft is now at the top of the chart followed by Fifa 13. Call of Duty is now 3rd but after six weeks as number 1 it cannot be denied that Black Ops 2 has had a good run. Please click here to see the full chart!
