Eurocom fyrer massevis

"We've fought to try and save as many jobs as possible, but the steep decline in demand for console games, culminating in a number of console projects falling through in the last week, left us with no option. Eurocom has retained a core staff of just under 50 employees and will be focusing mainly on mobile opportunities moving forward."'

Eurcom, the developer of a long series of games based on the James Bond franchise, has just announced that they'll be laying off the majority of their workforce. More specifically the number of employees must go down from 200 to merely 50. In a statement to Gamesindustry Hugh Binns from Eurocom said:

"We've fought to try and save as many jobs as possible, but the steep decline in demand for console games, culminating in a number of console projects falling through in the last week, left us with no option. Eurocom has retained a core staff of just under 50 employees and will be focusing mainly on mobile opportunities moving forward."'

The layoffs is due to a massive decline in demand for console game. Layoffs in this industry is never easy, especially when one (like myself) wishes to work in the games industry, so one thing is absolutely certain: the staff getting touched by this has my sympathy and I wish them all the best in the future.

Here we go again! The exam period is a rough one for many, and I am certainly no exception, but now I'm saddling the horse once again and will try to bring fresh news to the hungry people of gaming. And this time Tom Hanks is involved!

Tom Hanks is mostly known for his films but now he is trying to take on the world of gaming as well with his new project: Electric City. The game, Electric City: Revolt, has been developed by Jump Games and is a RPG featuring himself in the leading role. The game is also being produced by him and his production company Playtone. The game is now available on both Android Play Store and iTunes App Store. The nerd inside me bids Tom Hanks welcome and I am certainly interested in seeing more projects from him in the future!
