Eurocom fyrer massevis

"We've fought to try and save as many jobs as possible, but the steep decline in demand for console games, culminating in a number of console projects falling through in the last week, left us with no option. Eurocom has retained a core staff of just under 50 employees and will be focusing mainly on mobile opportunities moving forward."'

English version:

Eurcom, the developer of a long series of games based on the James Bond franchise, has just announced that they'll be laying off the majority of their workforce. More specifically the number of employees must go down from 200 to merely 50. In a statement to Gamesindustry Hugh Binns from Eurocom said:

"We've fought to try and save as many jobs as possible, but the steep decline in demand for console games, culminating in a number of console projects falling through in the last week, left us with no option. Eurocom has retained a core staff of just under 50 employees and will be focusing mainly on mobile opportunities moving forward."'

The layoffs is due to a massive decline in demand for console game. Layoffs in this industry is never easy, especially when one (like myself) wishes to work in the games industry, so one thing is absolutely certain: the staff getting touched by this has my sympathy and I wish them all the best in the future.
